General Partitions vs. Scranton Products

Toilet partition manufacturers suffer from not being recognized too well by the general public. The only time people tend to give any recognition to a restroom stall is if it’s either not in good shape, or dirty.

When everything is installed well and kept clean and sanitary, people tend to credit the establishment in which it’s placed, and still no thought to the toilet partition manufacturer.

That notwithstanding, it isn’t too important for the general public to give recognition to the manufacturer of toilet partitions, as long as the right people take notice. Builders, engineers, interior designers, and contractors are those who take notice of these things and are the ones who give business to the manufacturers.

Scranton Products vs. General Partitions – Toilet Partitions Comparison

To some, it might come as a shock, but there are dozens of stall manufacturers out there, competing for business, and all of them try to be just a little different than the others. In this article, we’re going to have a look at two companies, and give a comparative review of the businesses as a whole, and what they offer for partitions. The two companies being featured are General Partitions and Scranton Products.

General Partitions

General Partitions is based out of Eerie Pennsylvania and has been in the toilet partitions industry for over fifty years. Some of their largest projects are the Ralph Winston Stadium, Safeco Field in Seattle, Pittsburg Convention Center, and Pocono Speedway.

  • Materials Used: Stainless steel, Powder Coated Paint-Grip Galvanized Steel, Plastic Laminate, Solid Phenolic Core, High
  • Density Polymer, Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic, Color-Thru Solid Phenolic Core
  • Heights Available: 58”, 67”, 72”
  • Types Available: Floor Mounted, Floor Mounted with Overhead Brace, Ceiling Hung, Floor to Ceiling
  • Caters to Custom Designs

When browsing through the various partition styles, one of the first things that you’d notice is that they’ve categorized the anchoring types as “Series.” In other words: Series 30 is the floor supported type, Series 40 is the floor supported with headrail, Series 50 is ceiling supported, and series 60 is floor to ceiling.

Not every one of these Series is available for every material type. The partitions made from high-density polymer and fiberglass-reinforced plastic, only have series 40 and 60 available.

Also, they’ve given names to their different height types. All standard doors and panels come as 58” in height. If you wound up wanting the 67” height doors and panels, you’d request the Eastern Style. But if you’re looking for taller doors and panels, you’d request the Eastern Max style, giving you the 72” in height.

There are many options and combinations available for powder-coated partitions, such as anti-graffiti coats and a host of available colors. They also have an extensive color selection for their through color plastics and surface coated plastics.

Scranton Products

Before having changed hands a couple of times over the years, then called “Santana Products” began fabricating toilet partitions back in 1978. They were unique in that they specialized in HDPE plastic doors and panels in their products.

Today, Scranton Products is a division of The Azek Company and is located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Some of their largest projects are Ameritrade Stadium, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic High School, and Dallas Independent School District.

  • Materials Used: HDPE Plastic
  • Heights Available: 55”, 62”, 72”
  • Types Available: Floor Mounted Overhead Brace (Headrail), Floor to Ceiling, Ceiling Hung
  • Caters to Custom Designs

Though the product line found with Scranton Products isn’t as extensive as General Partitions, what they do have is impressive. Impressive in the sense of aesthetically different and more appealing than the standard stall types typically found.

They have three lines of toilet partition types- Aria Partitions, Eclipse Partitions, and Hiny Hiders Partitions.

The most basic of the three lines would appear to be the Hiny Hiders partitions. By basic, I mean, it’s the option that is most similar to their competition. These come in three types- floor mounted overhead brace, floor to ceiling, and ceiling hung.

The Eclipse Partition has many of the same features available with the Hiny Hiders, but all hardware is hidden from view. This creates a uniform and more solid appearance in the bathroom.

The third option is the Aria Partitions, which runs from the floor to the ceiling. It is equipped with over-door panels that give the stalls a separate toilet room appearance rather than a simple stall.

One of the features that stands out the most with Scranton Products is the selection of decorative door patterns. They currently offer seven-panel designs and 17 door designs.

Conclusion

These are two companies that have two different goals in mind. One is to sell fit, form, and function, with as many options as possible, and the other does the same with less focus on variety and more emphasis on style and aesthetics.

So, Which is Better?

Well, what are your needs? Both of these businesses have tackled similar projects in the past, but if I wanted to equip a stadium, I don’t think I’d go with Scranton.

On the other hand, if I needed to have partitions installed into a yacht club, golf club, or private school, I wouldn’t choose General Partitions between the two.

General Partitions offers exactly that. A general and traditional style of partitions that would be more at home in a larger setting, such as a stadium, mall, or a large industrial complex. If this is your need, then the wide array of options available at General Partitions will serve you well.

Scranton Products offers an opportunity to evoke an “at home” atmosphere to a public restroom due to its handiwork with the HDPE (particularly with their Aria partitions). Smaller businesses such as restaurants, firms, well-to-do clubs, or perhaps high-rise office buildings would be the best homes for their more aesthetically focused partitions.

It’s all in what you need, what you’re able to spend, and which company has the product that makes the most sense for the structure.
